Janice Pugh

Name:  Janice Pugh
My age is 57 (soon to be 58 next month)

Pre race meal: Pasta.....with anything.  If a morning run then porridge.

Favourite post race meal: Bacon, egg, sausage, mushrooms and anything else I can pile on a plate!  If the race ends near a pub, then a few pints of Stella or better still San Miguel.....not sure if that counts as food, but it certainly helps fill me up and re-hydrates at the same time!!

Best race:  For a good race time, it would have to be the old Radcliffe 10k - can't exactly remember my time but it was about 53 minutes (those days are long gone!) but as for enjoying a race, it would have to be The Great North Run in the early 2000's.

Worst race: Berlin Marathon 2010.  The event was really well supported but the weather was dreadful - heavy rainfall all the way around the course.  My head and heart were just not 'in the zone' that day, and as a consequence, I have never run a marathon since.....scarred for life!

Something you don't know about me:  I'm teetotal.....only joking!

Claim to Fame:  Non running claim - I was interviewed by Granada News (which was broadcast worldwide - my cousin saw my interview on Sky TV whilst on holiday abroad!)  It was in March 2006 and I was picketing outside my workplace GMC Fire Service HQ in Swinton.  1 million Local Government staff took stike action to protect their pension.

Running claim to fame is being interviewed and filmed by Granada TV during the Manchester Women's 5 mile race whilst running down Coronation Street!  We were also photographed and published in Runners World!  Our team ran for GMC Fire Service - our team name?  The Fire Belles!!
