Weekly News for the Month of August ....

Club champs to date..........

Road- Trail Championships

Where are we up to..........
In the Road Trail championships-There are still 4 more Club road-trail championship races to go. 14 males & 11 females have currently fully completed . With Twenty males & 14 ladies still able to compete (you only need 5 to count).
The leader boards
Jen Dixon is romping ahead in the overall ladies champs, whilst the men are battling it out and currently Jordan Burke now leads the males followed closely by John Humphrey and Leo Cain who are now neck & neck. With the age groups still to play for, theirs still plenty a battle to be had - come on harriers you got to be in it to win it. theirs still time.......

In the fells ......

Well its Sebergh hills this weekend - 14miles - good luck any Middleton harriers having a go at this. Ryan Lindsay leads the Fell champs closely followed by Jordan Hughes. Whilst Emma Ball currently Leads the ladies. Middleton Harriers ladies are also the 1st Team in the Grand Prix Leader board.
The Fell champs is 4 to count - including the above race there are 4 races left to go - 4 males have completed , and 5 males could still complete. Whilst 5 ladies have completed - 8 ladies could still complete.......come ladies & gents why not have a go :-)

Club Handicap

Results have now been updated along with photos in the road-trail section.

Great turn out at the club Handicap held at Bowlee on the 16th August. We had 20 males and 17 females take part. Barrie Fairbrother was the first runner back home.  Steve Lowe got the fastest time in 19 minutes, Jen Dixon got the fastest female time in 19:58.

There are still 4 more races to complete in the road championship, 14 males & 11 females who have already completed but 20 males and 17 ladies are still able to complete and be in contention, come on harriers.  Also well done to Terry O Neill and Ann Smith for joining the scoreboard, well done !!

Telford Railway Ultra

Steve Bassam stepped up from his marathons & completed 28 miles of the Railway Ultra this weekend. The Railway Ultra route takes runners along the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth along the disused railway line where the views of the river are outstanding.

Turnslack Fell Race

Turnslack Fell Race took place yesterday - with 8 Middleton taking part - Jordan Hughes, Graham Jordan, Keith Knott, Craig Sutherland, Joanna Adamson, Emma Ball, Karen Hallett, Lisa Jackson. The ladies won the team prize 💪 (well done Ladies)......results and a few pictures will be in the fell section !!

Park Run News

Park run June & July News.....
At Heaton Park : Keith Knott was 1st overall this week in a time of (17:05). Rob Bishop (20:20), Steve Lowe (20:35) , Pete Wood (18:10), and Paul Jordan (25:35) all bagged a PB over the last couple of months. Other runners at Heaton Park included : Martin Sampson, Leo Cain, Malcolm Bostock, Mike Grimshaw, Karen Hallett, Christine Eckersley, Cathie Murphy, Fiona Bolton, Lisa Jackson, Steve Granville, Mick Bull, Jennifer Laptew, Sandra Hutchinson, Terry O Neill, Anne Lowe & John Humphrey.


At Watergroove Matilda Adamson bagged a PB 29:36 - daughter of Joanna Adamson. Other runners included Lauren Williams, Mick Bull, Emma Ball & Steve Senior.


At Chadderton Park run Janine Jordan managed 2 consecutive PB's 33;57 & 33:07 well done Janine. Mick Buck also got a PB in a time of 30:38. Other runners included Roland Robson, Pete Hoyle, Terry O Neill & Rob Bishop.


And last but not least Oldham Park run, saw Martin Sampson for the 1st time, Pete Wood, Vicky Stainthorpe, Bryan O Neill & Bev O Neill. With John Humphrey bagging a PB 20:41.


Well done Harriers, hope to see some more PB's over the next coming months ...... Keep the good work up ! 🤩🏃‍♀️

Sprint training

Monday night sprint training sessions are hill reps Back at arena  "FROM Heaton Park" Sheep foot Lane entrance with Jason.
Or track session at Kingsway Park Sports Centre, 7pm, Turf Hill Rd, Rochdale OL16 4XA (there is a £2.00 charge for this facility) free to link for life members.


Thursday night Fell running

The Thursday night fell runs have been updated, & can be found in the fell running section. please note:  Members should always ensure you bring a hat, gloves, waterproof and extra layers, you never know what the weather may be like on the fells.
